Every suit begins with a paper pattern. Whether it is a pre-developed pattern refined through years of expertise for our made-to-measure garments, or a completely custom pattern drafted from scratch for a bespoke client, it serves as the foundation of the entire manufacturing process.

The pattern serves as the architectural blueprint of the suit, defining its proportions, balance, and silhouette, and guiding every stage of the construction process that follows. For bespoke clients, each pattern is carefully preserved and archived, becoming the foundation for future commissions and allowing us to build upon an already perfected fit for many years to come.

Before any cutting begins, the selected fabric undergoes a thorough inspection. The tailor examines the fabric for consistency, plans the placement of each pattern piece, and determines how stripes, checks, or other patterns will align seamlessly throughout the garment. The fabric is then allowed to rest so that any tension accumulated during weaving and transportation can naturally subside.

Only after this preparation does the cutting begin. Using large tailoring shears and drawing on decades of experience, the cutter transforms the flat fabric into dozens of precisely shaped pieces. Each section of the jacket and pants is cut individually, ensuring that the natural characteristics of the fabric are preserved. Precision at this stage is critical, as even the slightest deviation can affect the garment’s overall balance and elegance.

The construction of the jacket begins with what many consider the heart of bespoke tailoring: the floating canvas. Crafted from a combination of horsehair, wool, cotton, and linen, this internal structure lies hidden between the outer fabric and the lining. Unlike mass-produced fused garments that rely on adhesives, the floating canvas is entirely sewn into place by hand. It serves as the foundation that gives the jacket its shape, allowing it to drape naturally while maintaining its form over years of wear.

One of the most skilled and time-consuming steps follows: hand-stitching the lapels. Thousands of tiny stitches are meticulously sewn through the fabric and canvas. These stitches are invisible from the outside, yet they create the elegant roll and soft curve that distinguish a truly handmade lapel. It is a process that cannot be rushed, requiring patience, precision, and a highly trained hand.

As the internal structure takes shape, the tailor begins constructing the front of the jacket. The chest, shoulders, and lapels are gradually sculpted into a three-dimensional form. The result is a garment that appears to conform naturally to the body rather than simply covering it.

The pockets are then crafted and incorporated into the jacket. Whether they are patch pockets, flap pockets, or elegant jetted pockets, each is individually constructed and positioned with great care. Particular attention is paid to maintaining perfect symmetry and, where applicable, aligning patterns seamlessly across the garment.

The sleeves and collar are crafted separately. The collar must fit the neck perfectly, hugging it closely without causing discomfort while following the wearer’s natural posture. The sleeves are designed according to the client’s individual stance, ensuring that they hang naturally when the arms are at rest. Our tailors specialize in soft shoulders that are constructed with remarkable softness, creating an appearance of effortless elegance.

At this point, the suit enters its first fitting stage. The various components are assembled using temporary basting stitches, creating a preliminary version of the garment. Although unfinished, it already reveals the overall shape and proportions of the suit. During the fitting, we carefully study how the garment interacts with the client’s body. Adjustments are discussed, and subtle refinements are identified. The suit is then partially dismantled so that corrections can be made.

As the garment nears completion, the finishing work begins. The buttonholes are sewn entirely by hand, and each opening is carefully cut. The buttons themselves are attached by hand, ensuring they sit securely while maintaining flexibility and durability.

The lining is then installed, concealing the internal structure while preserving the freedom of movement created by the floating canvas. Additional hand finishing follows, including delicate pick stitching along the edges, reinforcement of stress points, and final detailing throughout the garment.

Perhaps the most overlooked stage of the process is the final pressing and shaping. In the hands of a skilled tailor, the iron becomes a sculpting tool. Through the careful application of steam, heat, and pressure, flat pieces of cloth are transformed into a garment with depth, curvature, and life. The chest takes on its fullness, the lapels achieve their graceful curve, and the overall silhouette gains its refined character.
